Susanne Stroh
Susanne Stroh (often known as “Susie”) is an American sculptor who creates animal and equine forms in bronze, and more recently has expanded into stone and ceramic work. Her sculpture is built around clean silhouette, solid anatomy, and a direct, hands-on process rooted in traditional making.

Susanne Stroh is an American sculptor who works primarily in bronze, with a studio practice that centers on animals and horses. She earned a BFA in Sculpture in 1969, then returned to sculpture later in life and began building a focused body of work—starting with equine subjects and expanding into other animals as her practice matured. She’s known for small bronzes that keep the form clear and honest, relying on proportion and gesture rather than surface noise.In recent years, Stroh has expanded her materials and methods beyond bronze, moving into stone and ceramics and treating each medium as a way to push the same core idea—strong form, clean lines, and a piece that reads from every angle. She also teaches, including through the Armory Art Center, sharing practical, fundamentals-first instruction rooted in making and craft.
