Elaine Witten is an award-winning, classically trained bronze sculptor who casts her work using the traditional lost-wax method. Working across figurative subjects, animals, and birds, she’s known for clean form, purposeful negative space, and an understated sense of motion. Many of her sculptures are presented on stone bases, adding a grounded, tactile counterpoint to the refined surface of the bronze. Her subject range also includes “antique” musical instruments, approached with the same focus on silhouette, balance, and proportion.In addition to sculpture, Witten exhibits paintings in oil, watercolor, and ink, working in a semi-abstract style she describes as closer to poetic realism than literal representation. Rather than painting a scene exactly as it appears, she focuses on how it felt and what stood out in the moment, letting color, shape, and rhythm carry the experience. She is also a published illustrator, with work included in multiple poetry books released by Poetry Box Press in 2020, 2023, and 2024. ×
