Artist Biography +
Shawn Faust is an American equine artist known for thoroughbred portraits and racing scenes built on strong drawing and portrait fundamentals. He earned a BFA from the University of Delaware and began his career as a freelance illustrator before shifting more fully into fine art. In the early 1990s, he studied portrait painting in oils with Daniel Greene, a move that strengthened his handling of color, value, and likeness.Faust became widely recognized within the racing world through commissions that required on-site observation at farms and tracks. He is associated with professional organizations in portrait and oil painting communities, and his work is held in corporate and private collections. His paintings are collected because they read as portraits first, not “horse art,” with the subject’s presence carrying the piece. ×
