Adrian Rigby

Adrian Rigby (born 1962 in Lancashire, England) was drawn early to both art and the natural world, growing up among the woods and moorlands that still shape his work. After studying at Blackpool College of Art, he worked as a commercial artist while painting whenever he could, focusing on sailboats through his love of sailing, along with the plants and animals that have always interested him.

Today, Rigby paints marine and wildlife subjects full time, driven by high standards of realism and accuracy. He spends significant time in the field observing and recording nature across seasons, and his reputation has grown steadily through regular exhibitions and awards with leading wildlife art societies. A careful researcher, he ensures his boats and seascapes are depicted with correct behavior, conditions, and environment, creating paintings that satisfy him as both an artist and a sailor and are collected throughout Europe and the United States, including works inspired by historic races such as the Breton Reef Challenge Cup (1893) and the America’s Cup Race (1893). ×
