Marie Channer

Marie Channer is an American oil painter based near Nederland, Colorado, known for paintings of horses, Western scenes, landscapes, and dancers. She works in oil on canvas and is especially focused on light and shadow, using value contrast to create drama, depth, and a clean read from across the room. Alongside her equestrian work, she also paints ballet and flamenco subjects, treating movement and posture with the same attention she brings to horses and landscape.

Channer has said her practice is supported by continued study of Old Master techniques, and she also teaches oil painting. Her work has received awards including a People’s Choice Award at the Louisville National Art Show and Best in Show at the Gilpin Art Association National Show.
