Alexei Butirskiy is a Russian painter born in Moscow (1974), known for urban scenes that emphasize stillness, atmosphere, and the emotional weight of light. He trained at Moscow Art College and later received his MFA from the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he developed a classical foundation and a strong command of drawing and composition. Butirskiy’s work often depicts everyday city life without embellishment, using chiaroscuro and nuanced color to create glow, depth, and quiet tension.
