Ronn T. Mattia is an American sculptor known for combining glass and stainless steel into graceful, abstract forms. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, Mattia earned his degree in sculpture and design from SUNY Cortland and now lives and works in Glens Falls, New York. His early connection to glass began through his family’s stained glass business, where he developed a lasting interest in the material’s color, texture, and relationship to light.

Over time, Mattia’s work expanded into sculpture that pairs glass with forged and fabricated metal. The contrast between the two materials remains central to his practice: glass brings translucency and delicacy, while stainless steel gives the work structure, movement, and strength. His sculptures often suggest natural forms, with long, fluid lines that recall growth, water, branches, and organic motion without becoming literal.

Mattia’s work is rooted in ideas of transformation, renewal, and balance. Each piece is carefully constructed, but never static. The glass catches and shifts with the surrounding light, while the steel forms create a strong silhouette from every angle. His sculptures have been exhibited in galleries and shows throughout the United States and continue to reflect his ongoing interest in material contrast, natural movement, and contemporary form.
