Original Oil Painting 10 × 8 in
Early in her career, Broussard became known for landscapes, still lifes, and architectural subjects, building her technical foundation through study with painters including Matt Smith, Scott Christensen, Skip Whitcomb, John Budicin, and Don Ward. Her work has been juried into exhibitions with organizations such as the Salmagundi Club, Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, Salon International, and Arts for the Parks. Over time, her subject matter expanded more deeply into western imagery, shaped by her own family history in Texas, including ties to the founding of the Republic of Texas, cattle driving, and ranch life.
Broussard’s current work often blends western subject matter with a more contemporary visual language. Horses, cattle, clouds, landscapes, and architectural details are simplified into bold shapes, borders, and lines, giving the paintings a clean structure while keeping their sense of movement. Rather than treating western art as purely traditional, she uses the genre as a place to explore design, rhythm, and personal history. The result is work that feels connected to Texas and ranch culture while still reading as fresh, graphic, and contemporary.
