Robert Amirault

Rob Amirault (born 1938) is a Canadian representational painter working in oil and watercolor, known for landscapes, seascapes, and figurative work built around the effects of light and pattern in nature. His practice begins with plein air studies made across rural Ontario, the Maritimes, and other travel locations, then develops into larger studio paintings using the field work as the backbone. He has exhibited since the mid-1960s and has a long record of participation in juried and invitational shows.

Amirault was elected to the Ontario Society of Artists in 1981 and later invited to join the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (1997). He has also been involved in plein air initiatives in Canada and is known for a steady, craft-forward approach rather than trend chasing. His work is held in private and corporate collections, valued for clarity, structure, and believable light. ×
