Artist Biography +
Gabrielle Benot is a Latvia-born artist whose work blends partial figuration with expressive abstraction, shaped by fashion imagery, travel, literature, and equestrian culture. She studied fashion design at Margrethe Skolen in Copenhagen and later developed a layered mixed-media approach she calls “Guscio,” built through a combination of wet and dry brushwork, palette knife passages, oil pastel, charcoal, and textured applications. Her process is material-driven, using layering and surface change to build movement and tension inside the image while keeping the composition controlled. Her paintings emphasize flow and color while maintaining a strong sense of design and silhouette, often balancing recognizable fragments against open, abstract fields. Rather than finishing everything, she lets parts of the image stay unresolved so the viewer’s eye completes the story. Collectors respond to the tactile build, the editorial edge of her references, and the way the work feels contemporary while still personal and studio-made. ×
