Using palette knives to sculpt thick, luminous oil paint, she creates works inspired by horses, architecture, travel, and the landscapes of Normandy, where she also breeds showjumpers.

Brooke Major is an American artist from Atlanta, Georgia, who has built a life in France centered on two lifelong passions: art and horses. She is based in Normandy, where her studio practice and equestrian world overlap daily, shaping a body of work rooted in lived experience and strong visual design. Working in oil with palette knives, Major “sculpts” paint into thick, relief-like surfaces that blur the line between painting and object. Her subjects often draw from horses, travel, architecture, and the landscapes of Normandy, with collectors drawn to her distinctive texture, light, and physicality. ×
